When to Arrive
We recommend arriving at your screening 45 minutes before start time. All Festival tickets are now digital; we will not be issuing physical tickets for in-person screenings.
Passholders
Passholders will receive a printed badge to be scanned for entry to a screening. Your name and a photo of you of your choosing will be printed on this badge. Details on pass pick up are coming soon.
Q&As
Q&As for feature films will follow a film’s scheduled in-person screening (subject to filmmaker availability).
Voting
Only in-person films are eligible for voting. You must have a ticket (that has been scanned) to vote for a film, you can only vote once per film, and votes cannot be changed once submitted. All voting will be completed using the Sundance Film Festival 2025 mobile app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) or the Festival Website.
Voting is quick and easy — here’s how to do it:
- Open the Sundance Film Festival 2025 mobile app or visit the Festival Website and navigate to “My Tickets.”
- Search for the film you wish to vote for and tap the “Vote” button below it.
- Cast your vote in the pop-up window using the 4-star rating system, with 4 stars being excellent.
- Next, tap the “Record Ballot” button to finalize your vote. That’s it!
In addition, all ticketholders will be sent a voting reminder email an hour before the scheduled end of a screening. If you open this email on a computer, you can vote on a web browser. If you open the email on your smartphone and select the “Vote Now” button, the ballot will open in the mobile app. If you don’t have the app, you will be prompted to install it.
Beyond Film
More information about Beyond Film is coming soon.
Ratings
Most of the films in our Festival program have not been rated. We curate bold and creative films that can be provocative and are not suitable for all audiences. Please read the film description in our Festival Program Guide prior to reserving a film to ensure the film is appropriate for all viewers in your group.
Notes on Sharing
Please read our Anti-Piracy Statement for information about attending in-person screenings and events.
All Festival tickets this year will be digital; we will not be issuing any physical tickets. At your venue, present your QR code on your mobile device to be scanned for entry. You can retrieve your ticket through the 2025 Sundance Film Festival mobile app or by logging in to your Festival account on a web browser.
Important: Festival tickets and Festival IDs serve different functions. A Festival ticket allows entry to a screening, whereas a Festival ID allows entry to an event (such as Beyond Film). Both can be retrieved as QR codes using the mobile app.
How to Print Your Tickets
If you do not use a smartphone, you may print your tickets in PDF format by logging in to your Festival account on your browser and clicking on “My Festival Schedule” (the calendar icon). From here, go to the “More” column and select “Download Printable Tickets PDF.” Please ensure that you print the full ticket with the QR code or scan bar.
There are two apps for this year’s 2025 Festival. Both are free and will soon be available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Please note that Festival apps from 2023 and earlier will not work and you will need to download the 2025 apps. If you have the 2024 mobile apps, you will need to update them before accessing 2025 Festival information.

Shuttle Services in Park City
There isn’t any parking at Park City theaters and venues, so we suggest using the free Festival shuttles to navigate Park City. The shuttle system visits every Festival theater and venue in town. For shuttle directions in Google Maps, enter your destination, select “Directions,” and then choose the public transit option.
Accessibility
All Sundance shuttles are ADA accessible (see our Accessibility resources for more information). If you need assistance, volunteers are always waiting at all main shuttle stops. For questions about paratransit services, please email accessibility@sundance.org.
Getting Around
The Sundance Film Festival takes place across two locations: Park City and Salt Lake City. Each city is separated by a 30- to 75-minute drive, so make sure to plan your schedule accordingly and refer to the Festival map.
To learn more about accessible transportation, please review our accessible parking, shuttles, and paratransit services resource.
Park City Parking
Parking is extremely limited in Park City, and all lots operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Please help reduce traffic congestion by parking at a free park-and-ride location and using the free shuttle services available. Walking is also a great option in Park City — the lighted pedestrian paths and sidewalks throughout town are often the quickest way to get around.
Important Reminder: Due to the importance of snow plowing roads and parking lots for pedestrian safety, all business and surface parking lots are actively patrolled and tow-enforced 24/7.
Sign Up for Text Alerts
To stay up to date on Park City conditions, text FILMFEST to 888777 for alerts about traffic incidents, road closures, weather conditions, and other emergencies (standard text-messaging rates apply).
Parking at Festival theaters and venues in Park City is extremely limited, so we strongly recommend that you use the free Festival shuttles to commute between venues. Please see our Parking page for instructions on where to park.

At Sundance Institute, we believe in the magic of the cinematic experience. Nothing can match the feeling of discovering a new filmmaker or movie alongside other independent-film lovers. To honor our filmmakers’ craftsmanship, all of our theaters are outfitted with Dolby Digital Sound and projected with Barco D-Cinema projectors.
Theater Rules & Regulations
All Festival patrons must adhere to the following rules, which will be posted at each theater or venue:
- Ticketholders and eligible passholders must be in the appropriate line at least 45 minutes before a film’s published start time to give you the best chance of admission.
- Once inside the theater, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off prior to the start of the film. The use of cameras or other recording equipment during screenings is strictly prohibited.
- By entering the theater, each patron consents to be photographed/filmed and grants Sundance Institute and its successors and partners — including credentialed members of the press, carrier stations, network station(s), sponsor(s), advertising agents, and their affiliated entities — the right to record and use their likeness, voice, and name worldwide in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever. In addition, each patron releases the above parties from any and all liability for loss or damage to person or property while they are at or around the theater.
- All cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off prior to the start of the film.
- No babies in arms or strollers are permitted in theaters.
- Pets (except for service animals) are prohibited.
- Attendees must take all personal belongings and litter with them upon exit. Any items left behind may be disposed of.

We recognize that respiratory viruses, including COVID-19 and the flu, fluctuate throughout the year, and we remain committed to prioritizing the health of our artists, audiences, employees, and volunteers. With COVID-19 in an endemic phase, Sundance Institute no longer provides masks or testing kits.
To support the well-being of our community, we have implemented a set of health practices that we encourage everyone to follow. These guidelines align with the most recent recommendations from health authorities, including the CDC, and apply to all staff and participants at Sundance hubs, programs, and events.
We encourage everyone to prioritize self-care.
General Health Recommendations
If anyone experiences the following symptoms, call 911 immediately:
- Difficulty breathing
- Persistent chest pain or pressure
- New confusion
- Inability to wake or stay awake
- Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, (depending on skin tone)
Hand Hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer regularly when soap is unavailable.
Social Distancing: While not mandatory, we welcome individuals to practice physical distancing for their comfort and safety while at Sundance hubs, programs, and events.
Self-Monitoring: Continuously assess your health. If you feel unwell, experience symptoms, or test positive for COVID-19, please stay home or in your accommodation. Symptoms of COVID-19 can appear 2-14 days after exposure.
If You Feel Unwell or Test Positive for COVID-19: If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms or test positive for COVID-19, stay home or in your accommodation, or wear a mask when outside of your home or accommodation.
Wellness
Here are some wellness tips to help you stay healthy and energized during the Sundance Film Festival, especially if you’re new to high-altitude environments and cold weather:
- Stay Hydrated: The high altitude in Park City can dehydrate your body more quickly than you’re used to, especially when coupled with the cold weather. Plan to drink an extra 1 to 1.5 liters of water each day. Keep a water bottle handy and refill it at water stations at theaters and venues. If you consume alcohol, it’s essential to drink even more water, as alcohol can dehydrate you faster at higher altitudes.
- Be Mindful of the Effects of High Altitude: If you’re not accustomed to higher elevations, you might experience shortness of breath, headaches, or fatigue. Give your body time to adjust by pacing yourself and avoiding overexertion, especially in the first few days.
- Adapt Your Routine: The Festival can be an exciting but physically demanding experience with early mornings, late nights, and lots of walking. Try to maintain your usual wellness habits, including physical activity, stretching, and meditation. Build in time to rest and recharge throughout the day to avoid burnout.
- Fuel Your Body: Keeping up with long days requires proper nutrition. Focus on eating balanced meals and avoid skipping them, even if your schedule gets busy. High-protein snacks like nuts, energy bars, or yogurt can help sustain your energy levels between events.
- Sleep is Essential: With so many activities happening around the clock, it can be tempting to skimp on sleep. However, quality sleep is key to keeping your immune system strong and preventing burnout. Try to stick to a consistent sleep schedule, even if it means leaving an event early.
- Dress for the Cold: The weather in Park City can be harsh, with freezing temperatures and snow. Dress in layers, including hats, gloves, and warm boots, to protect yourself from the elements. Keeping warm will help you stay comfortable and focused throughout the Festival.
- Drink Responsibly: Alcohol affects your body more quickly at higher altitudes, so drink responsibly and be mindful of how it affects your hydration and energy levels. Consider alternating alcoholic drinks with water to stay balanced.
By following these tips, you’ll be able to enjoy everything the Sundance Film Festival has to offer while keeping your body and mind in top shape!
These are the key policies that we apply in order to keep our Festival community safe and secure.
Bag and Jacket Checks
All coats, jackets, bags, backpacks, purses, cases, and similar items will be inspected prior to admission in any official Festival venues. Patrons refusing to submit or consent to the bag and jacket inspection shall be refused entry. These checks are done by security vendors hired by Sundance Institute and do not include any physical touching (like pat-downs).
Luggage and duffel bags are not permitted in any official Festival venues and cannot be stored on-site at any venue. Patrons who arrive with luggage or duffel bags will be required to remove them from the venue. Staff and personnel are not responsible for any bags or luggage left in a Festival venue.
Security Guards
Security guards are present at all official Festival venues and theaters, as well as at various events. Security guards are provided by our local security partners and are strategically placed at access points to keep our Festival community safe. All guards are unarmed and properly identified with their company logos.
Partner Events
The Sundance Institute is proud to offer our partners the opportunity to host events at our Festival. Partner events are wholly programmed and produced by our partners, even if they take place in an Official Festival Venue. All partner events must comply with our Community Agreement. Partner events serving alcohol may request identification.
Anti-Piracy
Please respect the work and livelihoods of our filmmakers and do not copy, rebroadcast, or distribute any film, or any portion thereof, each of which constitutes copyright infringement under United States and international copyright laws. We ask that you enjoy Festival films as they were intended: to be viewed in theaters and in small home gatherings, and streamed on the Sundance Film Festival digital platform.
Sundance Institute will take appropriate action against attendees who attempt to pirate, exhibit, or record any Festival films or other Festival content. The state of Utah bans piracy as set forth in Utah Statute on Piracy 13-10b-201. Copying copyrighted works can also subject you to civil statutory damages of up to $150,000 per work and felony criminal charges resulting in imprisonment. Sundance Film Festival takes extensive measures to curtail piracy, including digital (visible) and forensic (invisible) watermarking. Cameras and recording devices are strictly prohibited. Our staff are trained to handle piracy in accordance with state and federal law and will cooperate with local, state, and federal law enforcement on piracy-related matters.
Community Agreement Violations and Law Enforcement
All incidents that violate our Community Agreement are subject to an immediate and equitable review process with our third-party event ombuds, tEQuitable. We encourage using the Sundance Film Festival reporting mechanisms listed in the Community Agreement to document instances that occur at the Festival.
Any Community Agreement violations that include criminal activity fall under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. Sundance Institute operates under the jurisdiction of and alongside the Park City Police Department, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and Salt Lake City Police Department.
Welcoming Our Trans Artists and Community to the 2025 Sundance Film Festival
As we prepare for the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, our fundamental intention remains for all who attend the Sundance Film Festival to feel welcome and safe.
Understanding Recent Law Changes
In May, Utah House Bill 257, Sex-based Designations for Privacy, Anti-bullying and Women’s Opportunities, went into effect after the law was passed during the 2024 Utah legislative session.
You may have heard H.B. 257 referred to as the “bathroom bill” or “bathroom ban” in the media. This law has understandably raised concerns among many. Importantly, this bill does not restrict the use of restrooms unless the restroom is within or attached to a changing room in a government-owned or controlled building. The new law does affect the use of changing rooms in those buildings, and most of the law’s guidelines and restrictions apply to K–12 public schools.
We recognize that the enactment of H.B. 257 has been exceptionally difficult for the community directly targeted by this law. We have heard from members of our community wondering how the new law would impact their attendance at the Sundance Film Festival, and we want to provide clarity.
The 2025 Sundance Film Festival theaters and venues are not impacted by the law, nor is Salt Lake City International Airport.
More specifically, as it pertains to the Sundance Film Festival:
- Festival venues and surrounding businesses: H.B. 257 does not affect the theaters, hotels, businesses, or buildings that Sundance Film Festival operates in Park City and Salt Lake City, nor does it apply to bathrooms and changing facilities in places like restaurants, hotels, theaters, malls, etc. that are privately owned.
- Eccles Theater in Park City: While one of the Festival venues, the Eccles Theater in Park City, is housed within a government-run public school, as a private rental we will not be enforcing this law and we will not offer any bathrooms that are within changing rooms. As such, our guests are welcome to choose to use any bathroom within the venue. For those who need to use a restroom while waiting in the lines outside the venue, we will have an all-gender restroom trailer available.
- Salt Lake City International Airport: H.B. 257 does not affect the airport. Passengers can use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity; the airport does not have changing rooms. There are single-stall restrooms for people who prefer. Likewise, other transportation centers where bathrooms are independent of changing rooms are not affected.
While the law does not impact any venues that the Festival uses or the airport that people may use while traveling in and out of Utah, we want to share some further FAQ around this law to help those who may have general questions when traveling to Utah for the Festival.
How does the law affect what bathroom a transgender, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming person uses?
H.B. 257 permits people to use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity, rather than their sex at birth, so long as the restroom is not attached to a changing room in a government building. Different rules apply in the K–12 setting during school use.
When might there be a penalty?
While there is no penalty for using a bathroom so long as it is not attached to a changing room, the space remains governed by traditional privacy laws. As relates to the Festival, our venues are not in government buildings or public schools where a restroom is with a changing room.
What is a changing room?
Changing rooms are defined as shared spaces designated for multiple people to dress and undress. This includes dressing rooms, fitting rooms, locker rooms, and shower rooms. A changing room with a restroom in or attached to it is considered a changing room. As relates to the Festival, our restrooms in government buildings or public schools do not include restrooms with changing rooms.
As the airport is a government building, are there restrictions?
Passengers can use whichever sex-designated restroom that aligns with their gender identity at the airport as the airport does not have any changing rooms. In addition to the men’s and women’s restrooms, they do have separate gender-neutral restrooms for passengers.
What should I do if I encounter an issue?
During the Festival, tEQuitable is an independent, third-party ombuds resource offering confidential, neutral, and impartial support. ACLU of Utah and Equality Utah, the state’s LGBTQ civil rights and advocacy organization, have created an FAQ to interpret the new law which we want to share as a resource for our community who may be seeking accurate information and a better understanding of the law. The full FAQ with analysis from ACLU of Utah and Equality Utah can be found here: https://www.acluutah.org/en/know-your-rights/faqs-hb-257
Moving Forward Together
As an arts nonprofit, our role is to nurture artists and provide a place for communities to come together, converse, and engage with their stories. We will do everything we can to continue this for our full community. We want to assure the communities most affected by this legislation — including transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people — that you are vital to the Sundance community.
As we share in our Community Agreement, we remain steadfast in our commitment to freedom of creative expression while simultaneously uplifting anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-discriminatory practices in all areas of the Sundance Institute community. We strive for a harassment-free, safe, and respectful environment that protects community members from conduct that is inappropriate, disruptive, abusive, and threatening. We do not tolerate any discrimination against transgender people, and we will continue to listen to and engage with organizations as well as community leaders to make sure the Sundance Film Festival maintains a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment to all our artists, staff, volunteers, and audiences of all gender identities and expressions.
